Foodtech startup, yamo, that produces and sells healthier food for babies and young children has announced it has closed a €10.1 million Series A funding round to expand into France and add further products for children. The latest round from France-based Five Seasons Ventures, Swiss Entrepreneurs Fund, Ringier Digital Ventures, Müller Ventures, btov Partners, Polytech Ventures, BackBone Ventures and Fundament brings its total funding to €12 million.

Founded in 2016 to turn the dusty baby and child food industry on its head, the young company has already seen some great success for its fresh and natural food for babies and toddlers across the DACH region, serving customers online and through retailers. The company say loud and clear NO to additives, years of shelf life, added sugar and artificial colors.

Instead of traditional heat-sterilisation, yamo uses high-pressure pasteurisation (HPP), which retains the food’s natural nutrients, taste, colour and smell. Its products last between eight to 12 weeks refrigerated. yamo stands for:

By helping parents with products and advice on growing up their children healthy, yamo want to help future generations develop an awareness of healthy, fresh and sustainable nutrition from an early age. The products are available online using a subscription model and are already stocked by Coop across Switzerland, and are being tested in select Edeka and Rewe stores in Germany.
